Bundesliga high-flyers Werder Bremen have signed VfL Bochum defender Frank Fahrenhorst for next season.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at the Weser Stadion where he will replace Serbo-Montenegrin international Mladen Krstajic, who is moving to Schalke at the end of the season.

"I'm really looking forward to joining Werder," Fahrenhorst told the club's official website.

"They have a very, very good team and I'm sure they'll be playing in Europe next season.

"That was the decisive factor for me - my sporting prospects are simply better in Bremen."

Fahrenhorst, who scored Bochum's consolation goal in their 3-1 defeat in Bremen on Saturday, will move on a free transfer.
