Alpay due for Bologna talks

Controversial Turkish defender Alpay could be handed the chance to resurrect his career by Bologna following his exit from Aston Villa.
Alpay had his contract paid up by Villa after his well-publicised bust-up with England captain David Beckham made his position at the club untenable.
The 30-year-old is now available on a free transfer but is unable to sign for a new club until January.
He has not been short of offers despite his recent troubles and there has been a wealth of interest from Die Bundesliga.
Hertha Berlin have opted against landing the centre half but Werder Bremen, Hamburg and Borussia Monchengladbach are all keen on the former Fenerbahce man.
Serie A outfit Bologna have now entered the race and Alpay is understood to be jetting out to Italy on Monday to discuss a deal.
Bologna officials are already believed to have held tentative negotiations with Alpay's representatives and are hoping to steal a march on their German rivals by offering the stopper a lifeline.
