Bundesliga Round-Up

Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen moved joint top of Die Bundesliga after impressive home victories over Wolfsburg and Hansa Rostock respectively.

Werder hit the ground running and took an early lead with Ailton (pictured) bagging a brace just 21 minutes in, before Marino Biliskov pulled one back.

The home side restored their two-goal advantage moments later when Paul Stalteri netted to give the Weserstadion side a comfortable half time lead.

The goals kept coming after the break with Albert Streit pulling one back, though this simply ignited Bremen with Johan Micoud and Ivan Klasnic extending their lead.

Undeterred by their leaking defence Miroslav Karhan netted again for the visitors, but they failed to score again succumbing to a thrilling 5-3 defeat.

Elsewhere, rejuvenated Leverkusen had to wait until late on before securing their deserved defeat of Hansa at the BayArena.

With just 20 minutes remaining goals from Diego Placente, Dimitar Berbatov and Daniel Bierofka scored in quick-fire fashion to seal an unlikely 3-0 triumph.
