PIZARRO SET FOR BAYERN MOVE

WERDER BREMEN striker Claudio Pizarro has agreed to join Bayern Munich according to reports in the German media.

The Peruvian international has been monitored by clubs ubiquitous in Europe but it seems that Champions League victors Bayern have won the race for his signature.

Brazilian striker Giovane Elber confirmed the rumours on his personal website: "The fact that we have recruited Claudio Pizarro from Bremen is a good sign.

"The Peruvian international is a class player. Whether his transfer will affect my future at Bayern I don't want to say. Perhaps he is here to replace me."

A Weder Bremen press officer revealed exclusively to Planetfootball.com: "We can confirm that Uli Hoeness (Bayern general manager) has spoken to Klaus Allofs (Bremen director of sport) on the telephone but Claudio has not signed a contract with another club.

"Claudio will definitely be leaving Bremen but I can't comment on the rumours linking him to Bayern Munich."
