BAYER LEVERKUSEN got back to winning ways on Friday with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over inform Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga's only game on Friday.

Werder had been unbeaten since the winter break but found Bayer in no mood to give up their title aspirations after three successive defeats.

The home side's coach, Berti Vogts had lambasted his side before the game for their previous performances and it seemed to do the trick as Brazilian defender Lucio made it 1-0 with a header from a corner in the 12th minute.

Oliver Neuville made it two in the 54th minute, finishing off a superb passing movement with a competent finish, whilst Thomas Brdaric finished the scoring just after the hour.

After the game, Carsten Ramelow (pictured) said: "We showed we could play football today, which certainly wasn't the case in our last three games.

"We still have a chance of winning the title and as long as it is there I will go for it."

With the win, Bayer are now just one point behind Borussia Dortmund who play Freiburg on Saturday.
