Schalke have secured the future of academy star Leroy Sane, awarding the attacking midfielder a two-year professional contract.
The 18-year-old has penned a deal which will see him remain at the Veltins Arena until June 2017 as the Bundesliga side quashed interest from opposing clubs.
Sane is currently part of Schalke's UEFA Youth League side and has netted nine goals, adding the same amount of assists, in 17 Under 19 Bundesliga matches.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt is delighted to see the club retain the forward and is excited to see the son of former Bundesliga and Senegal striker Souleyman Sane progress.
"Leroy is a very talented young player able to feature in various attacking positions," Heldt told the club's official website.
"He impressed during this year's UEFA Youth League competition for our U19 side and he is already a wanted starlet.
"Some clubs were interested in him. We are delighted he never had any doubts regarding his future at Schalke."
Sane's two-year deal will commence in July 2015 and will allow him to feature in the club's Under 23 side throughout the 2014/15 season.
