Peter Hermann is set to follow Jupp Heynckes out of Bayern Munich this summer to take up a coaching role at Schalke.
Hermann is Heynckes' number two at the Champions League and Bundesliga winners but, with the veteran manager making way for Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena this summer, Hermann will follow him out of the door following the DFB Pokal final on Saturday.
The 61-year-old will act as assistant to Jens Keller at the Royal Blues alongside Sven Hubscher and has signed a deal until 2015.
Hubscher has also extended his deal until 2015 along with goalkeeping coach Holger Gehrke and athletic coach Ruwen Faller.
"In Peter Hermann we have gained an experienced man for our coaching staff who has a magnificent reputation in the Bundesliga," general manager Horst Heldt told Schalke's official website.
In a further re-shuffle at the Veltins Arena, Seppo Eichkorn will become the club's head scout after previously being an assistant coach while fitness coach Markus Zetlmeisl will move to the academy.
