Tim Hoogland has completed a loan switch away from Schalke and will spend the 2012/13 campaign with their Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart.
The 27-year-old passed a medical on Monday and has agreed a season-long deal.
Schalke announced at the end of June that they planned to send Hoogland out on loan.
The defender is looking forward to working with Stuttgart and has taken a parting shot at his parent club.
"I only want to play football," said Hoogland. "Schalke didn't give me the chance.
"Stuttgart is a top-quality side. We'll definitely be high in the table at the end of the season. I hope, ahead of Schalke."
Contract
Stuttgart have also tied promising goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos down on fresh terms.
The Germany U18 international will now remain with his home-town club until the summer of 2014.
"We are delighted to have this contract worked out," general manager Fredi Bobic told the club's
official website.
"Odi is a great prodigy, he will now continue to work his way further up towards the first team.
"He will make regular appearances for our reserves in the third division. He will also train with the first-team squad."
