Goalkeeper commits to Schalke until the summer of 2013

Schalke goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2013. The 21-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but the Bundesliga outfit were keen to retain his potential. Unnerstall currently acts as back-up to Ralf Fahrmann at Veltins-Arena, but he made his debut in the first round of the German Cup and is viewed as a player for the future. Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told his club's official website: "Lars Unnerstall has agreed a new contract with our club, he has signed new terms. "We are delighted with the progress Lars Unnerstall has been making in the past couple of seasons. Lars Unnerstall is a young goalkeeper with potential."
