Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick is refusing to concede his side's task against Manchester United is mission impossible.
The German side need to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit after being comprehensively outplayed by United in Gelsenkirchen last week.
Rangnick knows the odds are against his side, but he is taking inspiration from two meetings between United and Bayern Munich; the 1999 Champions League final and last year's quarter-final meeting
On the first of those occasions, United famously scored twice in injury time to snatch the cup from German hands, while last year Sir Alex Ferguson's side swept into a three-goal lead but eventually bowed out on away goals.

"We have to be well organised and take our chances when they are presented," said Rangnick.
"Even if there are just two minutes left we still have to think about United and in 1999 when they were a goal down going into injury-time and they still managed to win. You can never tell what will happen in football.
"Things can turn around so quickly, and United's match against Bayern last year is another example."
Rangnick is considering taking a risk on defender Benedikt Howedes' fitness after he missed the first leg with abdominal strain
"The last four games he played we won," added Rangnick. "But this is not the last game of the season.
"He has to be 100% fit and we will listen to medical staff because we don't want to take a risk and find out that he will be missing for another three or four weeks."
