Tests confirm Nigeria international will be sidelined until 2011

Hoffenheim's Nigeria international Chinedu Obasi is set for surgery on an injured shinbone which will keep him sidelined until 2011. The 24-year-old striker sustained an initial stress-related injury to his right tibia in July after participating in his country's disappointing World Cup campaign. Obasi has only managed to feature in four games this season as a result and medical analysis has now decided that surgery is required to solve his injury problems. "Tests have confirmed that an operation is necessary to enable him to return to train and play without feeling any pain," said Hoffenheim in a statement. Obasi joined Hoffenheim in 2007 and has gone on to score 13 goals from 51 appearances.
