German media reports have revealed that Schalke are looking to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Jefferson Farfan.
New Royal Blues coach Fred Rutten knows that he must increase his team's firepower to challenge for the Bundesliga title and it would appear that the 23-year-old Peru international is at the top of his shopping list.
According to Bild, Schalke have tabled a 10 million euros (£8m) offer for Farfan who will be handed a four-year deal at the Veltins Arena.
The newspaper claims that personal terms with the player have been agreed, but Schalke manager Andreas Muller is keeping coy about the move:
"I won't be making any comment until things have been sorted out," he said.
Farfan has been plying his trade in Holland for the past four seasons, establishing himself as one of the Eredivisie's most feared front men.
However, the 2007/08 campaign represented his least productive in front of goal as he failed to break into double figures.
