Schalke passed a real test of their title credentials as they claimed a 1-0 win over Stuttgart.

It was always likely to be a tense affair at the Arena Aufschalke and it took a solitary goal from Mladen Krstajic on 76 minutes to secure a 1-0 win for the leaders against their third-placed opponents.

Bayern Munich have found some form in recent weeks, but their title charge was knocked off the rails at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Ottmar Hitzfeld's side were frustrated in attack and Christoph Preuss' effort on 78 minutes secured three points for Frankfurt.

Alemannia Aachen heaped more pressure on Arminia Bielefeld with a 2-0 win over the strugglers.

Both goals came late in the contest as Jan Schlaudraff (71) and Aurel Reghecampf (penalty, 76) dealt Bielefeld a crushing blow.

The northern derby between Hannover 96 and Hamburg ended 0-0, while it was a similar scoreline between Borussia Dortmund and Nurnberg.

Wolfsburg continued their climb up the table with a 3-1 win over Bochum.

Goals from Isaac Boakye, Alexander Madlung and Marcelinho rendered Theofanis Gekas' strike for the visitors nothing more than a consolation.
