Media reports in Hamburg claim that HSV are looking to make a move for out-of-favour Schalke goalkeeper Frank Rost.

Rost has been on the Schalke bench for several weeks after losing his place to youngster Manuel Neuer and Hamburg boss Thomas Doll could be looking to tempt him to the AOL Arena to help his club's fight against relegation.

Both Sascha Kirschstein and Stefan Wachter have been anything but impressive for the Rothosen between the posts this season and a man of Rost's experience and ability could bring much needed stability to the HSV back line in the spring.

Schalke do not appear ready to let the former Werder Bremen man leave, with general manager Andreas Muller reacting to the reports.

‚Ç£It would be crazy for us to let such an experienced player go," said Muller.

‚Ç£We need two good goalkeepers, we need Frank Rost.‚Ç¥

Muller did, however, add that he would consider a possible move should 'Frank look me in the eye and say that he wants to leave Schalke', thus firing the first shot in the possible upcoming transfer poker.
