Borussia Monchengladbach have signed goalkeeper Christofer Heimeroth from Bundesliga rivals Schalke.

The 24-year-old custodian has agreed a four-year deal at Borussia Park on Thursday, after spending the last seven years in Gelsenkirchen.

Heimeroth impressed whilst deputising for Schalke number one Frank Rost last season, but a move to Gladbach will give him a better chance of first-team football.

Current Foals goalkeeper Kasey Keller is expected to leave the club at the end of next season, leaving Heimeroth as the senior keeper.

"Christofer is a young and talented goalkeeper with excellent credentials for a Bundesliga career," commented Gladbach's director of sport Peter Pander.
