Bayern Munich closed to within four points of leaders Werder Bremen after a 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern knew the trip to the BayArena would not be easy, but the defending champions should their class with a thoroughly professional display.
Dutch star Roy Makaay (pictured) opened the scoring just before half time and then the ubiquitous Michael Ballack pounced just before the hour.
