The 23-year-old Danish international required surgery on an injured ankle and is now in a race to be fit for Denmark's vital Euro 2004 qualifying game against Norway on June 7.
Poulsen is hoping to test the ankle against Bayern Munich on Saturday and Denmark coach Morten Olsen will be hoping he comes through the match unscathed.
The midfielder said: "I have agreed with Morten Olsen to keep him informed how things are going during the course of the week.
"I am hoping to get playing time. The positive is that the ankle is no longer getting swollen when I use it and that it is not aching any more.
"It is obvious that I would really like to take part in the decisive match against Norway but on the other hand I also have to listen to our doctors. If they claim I am not fit to play, then I have to withdraw."
