MEHMET SCHOLL hit a sensational hat-trick as Bayern Munich crushed local rivals 1860 Munich 5-0 and kept up their march towards the Bundesliga title.

Bundesliga leaders Bayern failed to break through in the first half but Scholl opened the scoring on 58 minutes and the floodgates opened up wide.

The German international grabbed his second on 69 minutes before Bixente Lizarazu (72) and Claudio Pizarro (78) got in on the act. Scholl completed his treble late on as The Lions collapsed.

Defending champions Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a goal fest themselves smashing Bochum 4-1 at the Westfalen Stadion.

Delron Buckley put Bochum ahead on eight minutes but Giuseppe Reina levelled after 33 minutes.

Jan Koller then put Dortmund in front after 43 minutes and two penalties from Torsten Frings (45, 69) capped a fine victory.

Schalke recorded a crucial victory over fellow Champions League chasers Stuttgart with goals from Emile Mpenza (4) and Tomasz Hajto (45) clinching all three points.

Bayer Leverkusen's dreadful season continued with Hansa Rostock winning 2-1 at the Bay Arena.

Bachirou Salou put Hansa in front after 36 minutes but 120 seconds later Marko Babic levelled for Bayer.

In a frantic few minutes Salou notched his second on 41 minutes and Bayer had no answer this time.

The loss now puts more pressure on Leverkusen coach Klaus Toppmoller.

FC Nurnberg shocked Champions League hopefuls Werder Bremen with a 1-0 home win.

Lars Muller netted the opener after 41 minutes for 'The Club' and their cause was further aided by Markus Daun's dismissal on 58 minutes for violenr conduct.

Ten-man Bremen could not find an equaliser and fall off the pace for a European spot.

Hamburg continued their impressive season with a 2-0 win over nine-man Wolfsburg.

Robson Ponte was sent off for the Wolves with 36 minutes gone and three minutes later Hamburg took advantage.

Argentine international Rodolfo Cardoso netted for The Rothosen sapping the spirit of Wolves.

Collin Benjamin grabbed another goal in the final minute after Tomislav Maric had been sent off for two bookable offences.

Kaiserslautern could only draw 1-1 away to Arminia Bielefeld and remain in the bottom three as a result.
