Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola admitted he was delighted and "very proud" of his side following their comfortable 4-0 victory over third-placed Augsburg at the SGL arena.

Bayern's triumph on Saturday underlined their superiority in the Bundesliga as they moved 10 points clear of Wolfsburg - who play on Sunday - at the top.

Medhi Benatia put the Bavarians ahead and three more goals followed in the space of just 11 minutes as Arjen Robben netted a brace and Robert Lewandowski was also on target for Guardiola's men.

The Spaniard told his club's official website www.fcbayern.de: "I'm very, very proud, because I know how difficult it is to win here.

"We were much more aggressive in the second half and our passing was quicker."

Bayern built on their midweek 3-0 win over CSKA Moscow, as they topped Champions League Group E with 15 points ahead of Monday's draw in Switzerland.

He added: "I'm constantly surprised by the mentality of this group of players who've won everything there is to win already. We have two more games (this year) and we'll try and win them both."

Bastian Schweinsteiger admitted it was a tough match, but said Bayern's strength showed through in the second half.

The Germany midfielder said: "It wasn't easy, but we played very well in the second half.

"There are good reasons why Augsburg are third. They're very passionate, very aggressive and their first-half tactics were excellent.

"After we went 1-0 up, Augsburg tried to play a more attacking game. We made good use of the gaps that opened up and went on to score our goals."

Bayern take on struggling Freiburg at home on Tuesday before travelling to Mainz in their final two Bundesliga matches of the year ahead of the winter break.
