Wolfsburg forward Ivan Perisic looks set to miss the start of the Bundesliga season after fracturing his shoulder.
The Croatia international suffered the injury during the Telekom Cup match against Bayern Munich on Sunday, having to be withdrawn after 21 minutes.
The 25-year-old will now undergo surgery to fix the problem but sporting director Kalus Allofs is sure that the squad will cope with the loss.
"These injuries are very unfortunate for us. But we have a wide squad with which we have to compensate for these losses now," he told the club's official website.
"The important thing is that the healing process with each individual runs optimally and players can return to the team as quickly as possible."
The Wolves begin their Bundesliga campaign at defending champions Bayern on August 22.
