Bayer Leverkusen general manager Rudi Voller has said that he wants Sami Hyypia to remain as the club's coach beyond the end of next season.
The 40-year-old former Finland international defender is currently contracted to the German club until June 2015.
Hyypia was placed in joint charge of Bayer in April 2012 alongside Sascha Lewandowski and has been the sole first-team manager of the Bundesliga outfit since the start of this campaign.
Bayer, who finished third in the Bundesliga last season, are currently second in the standings, four points clear of third-placed Borussia Dortmund and 13 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
"I am very sure that we will soon sit down and agree a new contract," Voller told Sky Deutschland.
"He knows all about us and we know all about him. We do not have a date scheduled yet, but we will do.
"Sami enjoys being at our club and he is doing a fantastic job. He is a bit different from other managers."
