Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin has stated that they want to sign Diego Perotti from Sevilla on loan.
The 25-year-old winger is reported to have fallen out of favour with coach Unai Emery and is keen to leave the Spanish club this month.
Sevilla are also willing to let go of the Argentine but want £3.6m, a transfer fee that Bundesliga outfit Bremen are not willing to pay.
Instead, Robin Dutt's side are keen on signing Perotti on loan this month for the rest of the season with the option to recruit him on a permanent deal in the summer.
"I am looking to agree a loan transfer," Eichin told the Weser-Kurier newspaper. "If I am to agree a loan deal, it would need to be with an option to buy.
"And if there is such an option included in a loan, then it needs to be for a realistic future simply to ensure that we have a real chance of keeping the player at our club."
