Schalke 04 have confirmed that goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand will not be offered a new deal and is free to leave the club at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old has been at the Bundesliga side since 2011, having joined from Sporting Lisbon, but has lost his place as first-choice keeper to Ralf Fahrmann in recent games.
General manager Horst Heldt confirmed that Hildebrand, who is a former Germany international, will be allowed to exit the club upon the expiry of his current contract.
"Timo Hildebrand will be leaving the club at the end of the season," he told Deutsche Presseagentur.
"The signature of Timo Hildebrand back in October 2011 has been a very important deal of Schalke 04.
"Still our main focus is to mainly have the future in mind when making decisions on new contracts."
