Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin insists the club still want keeper Sebastian Mielitz to sign a new deal despite a shaky display.

The 24-year-old, who is under contract at Weserstadion until the end of the season, became the number one after the departure of former skipper Tim Wiese in July 2012.

But, in the club's most recent home Bundesliga outing, Mielitz endured a rather shaky display and was to blame for two of Mainz's three goals as Bremen slipped to a 3-2 home defeat.

However Eichin insists he has not changed his mind on the club's plan for Mielitz to sign a new deal.

He told BILD: "I have always handed Miele (Sebastian Mielitz) my support. There will be no change of opinion on this issue after one performance.

"(But) I am not talking about deals at this moment, also not with others on expiring contracts. Our biggest ambition these days is to get back (up the table)."
