Gebre Selassie has started five of Werder's 11 games in the Bundesliga this season and has also featured four times as a substitute.
However, the Czech Republic international is keen to be playing every week and the 26-year-old is concerned about his progress.
"It's not the best for your overall development to not be a first-team regular over a certain amount of time," the defender told BILD.
"I am a Werder Bremen player and I still have time left on my contract. But not playing regularly in the first team definitely makes you think that you should find some better place."
Gebre Selassie joined Werder on a four-year contract from Slovan Liberec in the summer of 2012 and he featured for the Czech Republic at Euro 2012.
