Former Brazil international Diego insists he is prepared to wait and see if Wolfsburg will offer him a new contract.
The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Bundesliga club at the end of the season but is in to rush to resolve his future despite the uncertainty.
Attacking midfielder Diego moved to the Volkswagen Arena from Juventus in 2010 before spending a season on loan with Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
Diego has featured in all 10 of Wolfsburg's Bundesliga games this term, scoring twice, and expects talks over a contract extension will happen in due course.
"If the club wants to wait on a decision it's no problem for me," he told German magazine Kicker.
"Signing a new contract is actually not something I am concerned about. Everything will be fine after a great season and everyone knows I am happy at VfL Wolfsburg.
"Of course, there are plenty of options. But actually it's just about working hard."
During his time with Wolfsburg, Diego has netted a total of 17 goals in 70 appearances.
