Former Hamburg star Felix Magath has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant manager's job at the imtech-Arena.
Former Wolfsburg boss Magath is a Hamburg legend having scored their winning goal in the 1983 European Cup final against Juventus.
Magath, who is an experienced manager in Germany, was strongly linked to replacing the recently sacked Thorsten Fink.
But speaking to Bild, Magath said: "I am not available for the job of manager at Hamburger SV.
"Back in May Manfred Ertel (Hamburg's chairman of the supervisory board) and Carl-Edgar Jarchow (Hamburg chairman) declared Thorsten Fink would be the best solution in charge of Hamburg.
"And now, after just five matches of the new campaign, he is not the best anymore? I am very much surprised, so to say!"
