Frank Ribery is unconcerned by the increased competition at Bayern Munich, pointing out that team spirit is the key.
Ribery was part of the Bayern team that won the Bundesliga title and the UEFA Champions League under Jupp Heynckes last season.
The arrival of Thiago Alcantara and Mario Gotze under new boss Pep Guardiola means competition will now be fierce in midfield but Ribery is in positive mood.
"The competition for roles in the first-team has been further increased," the Frenchman told Munich-based newspaper TZ.
"But those who end up on the substitute bench need to remain positive. We enjoyed a great team spirit last season and we just need the same for the season ahead."
The 30-year-old winger has made more than 200 appearances for the Bavarian giants since signing from Marseille in 2007.
