Bundesliga outfit Augsburg have handed a six-month contract to former West Brom winger Somen Tchoyi.

Tchoyi has been without a club since leaving the Baggies at the end of last season.

He was not expected to be in the free agent pool for long, having shone at times during his stint in the Premier League, but found himself left on the shelf.

Augsburg have now offered him a route back into competitive football on a deal which is set to run until June.

There is a clause in the contract which will see Tchoyi handed a one-year extension should he impress over the coming months.

After snapping up the Cameroon international, Augsburg general manager Stefan Reuter told the club's official website: "We are very much aware that Somen Tchoyi is lacking match practice at the moment.

"However, we are fully convinced about his individual skills

"We believe that he can become an important alternative in our attacking set-up over the next few months."
