Brazilian club Corinthians have signed Hamburg's Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero for an undisclosed fee
Brazilian team bring in striker from Hamburg
Hamburger SV have confirmed that their Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero has joined Brazilian club SC Corinthians Paulista for an undisclosed fee.
Guerrero has played for Hamburg for the last six years after joining the club in 2006 from Bayern Munich. He has two years left on his contact, but is seen as surplus to requirements at the club.
The 28-year-old striker has played 151 Bundesliga matches, scoring 47 goals, and has been seen as something of a controversial figure.
Commenting on the move, Hamburg's general manager Frank Arnesen said: "Both clubs have reached an agreement on the transfer fee.
"It will be a big move for Paolo to leave this massive club. We wish him all the best for the future and would like to thank him for his efforts in the past."
Chrisantus
Another player leaving Hamburg is former Nigerian youth international Macauley Chrisantus, who has been released despite still having a year left on his contract.
Chrisantus was the top goal scorer in the 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup - a competition that Nigeria won, and he moved to Hamburg in 2008.
He was 18 when he moved from Nigeria's Hearts of Abuja, and cost around £1million.
Chrisantus failed to make a first-team appearance for Frank Arnesen's team, but played on loan for both Karlsruhe and FSF Frankfurt in the second-tier of the German leagues.
Over his three seasons on loan Chrisantus scored 19 goals in 73 matches.
"Chrisantus has one year left on his contract with our club," Arnesen told the
Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper. "But we are going to let him leave the club this summer."
Commenting on the decision, Chrisantus said: "I have to admit that I expected a better career when I joined Hamburger SV."
