Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath doubts whether Thomas Kahlenberg is 'good enough for the Bundesliga', suggesting he will soon be on his way out of the club.
The Denmark international moved to Germany in 2009, having impressed during a four-stint at Auxerre.
He struggled to settle in his new surroundings and was sent back to France on loan last season, as he took in a spell with Evian.
Kahlenberg has since returned to his parent employers, but Magath has intimated that he will look to offload the 29-year-old midfielder during the summer transfer window.
"I'm very sceptical when it comes to Thomas, and I have my doubts about him being good enough for the Bundesliga where the style is more physical," Magath told Ekstra Bladet.
"His type of play would fit better in the French league, which we saw last spring when he had a good time at Evian.
"You can't predict the future but, as I said, I'm a bit sceptical when we talk about Thomas."
Kahlenberg has offered no indication that he will be pushing for a move away from Wolfsburg, but admits he is open to offers.
"I finished the season well in France and now I'm back at Wolfsburg where I hope to regain my form and see what the future holds," he said.
"For the moment I don't have any offers on the table.
"It is true that St Etienne were interested, but nothing materialised."
