World Cup winner Bodo Illgner would be interested in becoming the new director of sport at Cologne.
The Bundesliga club are in a mess off the field after Volker Finke left the role over the weekend following his failure to form a working relationship with manager Stale Solbakken.
But former West Germany international and Cologne goalkeeper Illgner, who won the World Cup in 1990, would still welcome any chance to return to his ex-club.
The 44-year-old told Bild: "I do not want to curry favour with Cologne. But becoming director of sport of the club, this really excites me.
"I think the club structure of Cologne is a very reasonable one compared to other clubs in the league.
"The club needs to be on top of everything."
