Manager expects midfielder to stay

Michael Ballack missed training at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday to fuel speculation he could make a transfer deadline day move. Uncertainty surrounds the future of the former Germany captain following his fall down the pecking order at the Bundesliga side. Reports of a dispute with manager Robin Dutt have only strengthened rumours he could be on his way out of Leverkusen. Ballack, whose contract expires in the summer, has failed to tie down a regular first-team spot since returning to the club from Chelsea in the summer of 2010. The midfielder, who has been linked with clubs in England as well as Major League Soccer outfits, has missed two training sessions this week. Dutt confirmed his absence on Tuesday but expects the former Germany catpain to stay at Bayern. He told Rheinische Post newspaper: "Michael has a day off on Tuesday. This is down to a private appointment. "We both had agreed on this last week. Michael is a part of our squad. I am convinced he will be to play some more games for us this season."
