Ivory Coast international Guy Demel has announced he will see out his existing contract with Hamburg.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Bundesliga side in 2005, made the decision after speaking with new general manager Frank Arnesen this week.

And, despite manager Michael Oenning criticising Demel at the end of the 2010/11 season, the former Arsenal right-back is contracted for two more seasons.

Motivation

Now, with any doubts over whether Demel would have the motivation to carry on at Imtech Arena laid to rest, he is relishing the prospect of playing with the German side until June 2013.

Demel said: "Frank Arnesen told me he is well aware of my skills and remembers that I am able to play in various roles within a first team.

"He said I should be around for the beginning of pre-season at Hamburger SV. I think this is good news for me. I am looking forward to this."

Demel started his professional career in the French Ligue 2 with Nimes Olympique before joining Arsenal in 2000.
