Jan Schlaudraff has a future at Hannover beyond the end of the season following his excellent form at AWD Arena this season.
It seemed certain that the 27-year-old forward would be allowed to leave in the summer after being criticised by chairman Martin Kind for an alleged lax attitude.
However, Schlaudraff has been a key part of Hannover's shock climb to fourth in the Bundesliga and he is now set to stay.
Kind told BILD: "We have a successful team and our goal is to keep hold of every key player of that squad.
"Jan Schlaudraff is among them. The criticism he attracted then (earlier in the season) was necessary.
"Now his motivation is pretty much right, we want to keep him here."
