Leverkusen ace open to replacing Dzeko

Patrick Helmes' agent has confirmed his client is interested in joining Wolfsburg as Edin Dzeko's replacement. The Bundesliga outfit are keen to bolster their attacking options following Dzeko's big-money move to Manchester City. Bayer Leverkusen ace Helmes has been linked with the club and his agent Gerd vom Bruch has done little to dampen the speculation. "Patrick is interested in joining Wolfsburg," Vom Bruch told Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung. "Wolfsburg are a good club with a club squad. I feel Patrick would really fit the bill there."

Wolfsburg managing director Dieter Hoeness thinks the club are close to a deal, but refused to confirm who will join. "I think we could be in a position to unveil something next week," he commented. Hoeness previously rubbished reports the club could bring Dynamo Moscow's Kevin Kuranyi back to the Bundesliga. "This is pure nonsense, we're not in touch with Kevin Kuranyi," he told Deutsche Presseagentur.
