Bayern Munich look set to sign Brazilian Luiz Gustavo from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim.
The German champions are currently fifth in their domestic table and are trailing leaders Borussia Dortmund by 14 points going into the winter break.
Bayern's rearguard has come into question this campaign and the Allianz Arena outfit have identified Gustavo as the answer to the leaky defence.
The 23-year-old defender - who can play at left-back, centre-back or in midfield - has performed impressively since joining Hoffenheim in 2007.
And the former Corinthians-Maceio performer now looks primed to join Louis van Gaal's side.
A statement on Bayern's official website read: "The terms of the deal bringing the 23-year-old to the Saebener Strasse have been agreed between the Bayern board and the south-western outfit.
"Provided there is no last-minute hitch the Brazilian will sign a four-and-a-half year deal keeping him in Munich until 2015."
