The 24 year-old, who has been on the Bundesliga club's radar for several months, has welcomed the offer and hopes to complete the move.

Striker Okazaki is currently at J-League team Shimizu S-Pulse, but his contract expires at the end of January and it is understood talks are taking place with Stuttgart.

"I heard about (the offer) a few days ago," he revealed on Sanspo.com.

"It is going to be a nervous yet exciting wait for me."

Okazaki was joint top scorer for Shimizu this past season, netting 13 goals in 31 league appearances after playing for Japan at the World Cup in South Africa.

Stuttgart would hope that additional firepower could help the club to climb away from the Bundesliga relegation zone after the winter break.
