Baggies' super-sub looking to win more starts

West Brom's super-sub Somen Tchoyi is aiming to win more starts for the Baggies after impressing off the bench this term. The Cameroon international enhanced his credentials with a fine strike as a substitute in their 4-1 weekend win at Everton. The former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder has only started one Premier League match, but has three goals in his last five outings in all competitions. Tchoyi is keen to start more games and hopes a good display against Ipswich in Carling Cup action will enhance his case. The 27-year-old was delighted with his goal against Everton and now hopes to impress Roberto Di Matteo to secure more playing time.

Working hard

"I'm working hard for the team and to try and get more time on the pitch," he told the club's official website. "Every time I play I try my best to show what I can do. "(Wednesday) is a good chance for me to show I'm worthy of a starting place against Newcastle on Sunday. "The whole team was happy with the result on Saturday and we're looking forward to the next game. "I always try and do my best for the team and I was really pleased with my performance. "The third goal made it safe for us and made us more confident. To play against 10 men is never easy. "I've not scored loads of goals but I've scored some good ones. I hope there is more to come. For me a goal is a goal. It gives me confidence to be scoring."
