Bayern Munich director of sport Christian Nerlinger has defended Miroslav Klose's club form.
Klose managed a return of just three goals for Bayern last season, yet he shone for Germany in the summer.
Indeed, the 32-year-old netted five times for Germany during their World Cup showing in South Africa.
This season, Klose has again struggled to score for Bayern, although he did strike three goals in two games for Joachim Low's Germany last week.
Nerlinger, though, has stuck up for the striker, telling Sport Bild magazine: "First of all, I think teams like Azerbaijan are poorer than our opponents in the Bundesliga so you can't really compare them.
"But certainly games for the national team are special moments.
"Of course our players are equally professional for the club and always try to give their all."
