Former Latic could land deal after impressing on trial

Former Wigan midfielder Olivier Kapo could land a contract with Freiburg after impressing on trial. The 29-year-old is without a club after leaving the Latics in the summer and completed a two-day trial with the Bundesliga outfit this week. Freiburg manager Robin Dutt said the free agent impressed but they must consider both his age and what he would bring to the team before offering a deal. Dutt told Badische Zeitung: "Olivier Kapo has left a fair impression in his trial with us. "However, he is a player of a certain age. We need to consider this and what he could add to our team in the future." The former Birmingham player joined the Latics in 2008 but spent the second half of the last season on loan at French side Boulogne after falling down the pecking order at the DW Stadium.
