Newly-promoted Bundesliga outfit St. Pauli have completed the signing of Peru defender Carlos Zambrano on a two-year loan deal from Schalke.
The deal includes an option for St. Pauli to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent basis when the temporary agreement reaches its conclusion.
Zambrano is the second player to move from Schalke to St. Pauli following the recent free transfer of Gerald Asamoah.
St. Pauli manager Holger Stanislawski told his club's official website: "I am looking forward to Zambrano being here.
"He is a great guy and an extremely uncompromising defender on the pitch."
Zambrano's arrival could mark the end of St. Pauli's activities in the summer transfer market.
General manager Helmut Schulte said: "With Zambrano's arrival, we are now just going to study the transfer scene this summer."
