Mauro Camoranesi has been passed fit to take his place in Italy's World Cup squad after coach Marcello Lippi axed five players for the tournament.
Juventus midfielder Camoranesi had provided Italy with a late scare after suffering a knee injury in training on Tuesday.
However, scans have shown that Camoranesi has not suffered any meniscus damage and he is expected to be fit for the holders' first game of the World Cup against Paraguay on 14th July.
Azzurri team doctor Enrico Castellacci said: "There are no meniscus lesions. He can recover in a few days.
"We aim to have him at the coach's disposal for the first World Cup game with Paraguay."
Lippi, who will be replaced by Cesare Prandelli after the finals, has axed five players from the preliminary squad of 28 he named last month.
Villarreal forward Giuseppe Rossi and AC Milan striker Marco Borriello have been omitted after Lippi trimmed his attacking options.
Palermo goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, team-mate Mattia Cassani and Cagliari midfielder Andrea Cossu have also been left out.
