Midfielder wants to reach Europe with Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic is focused on helping the German champions reach Europe again after being told he is staying put by the club. The 27-year-old was recently linked with his former boss Felix Magath at Schalke after praising both the coach and the club. But Wolfsburg's managing director Dieter Hoeness has effectively ended any hopes Misimovic may have had of moving by placing a 20 million euros price tag on the midfielder. The former Bayern Munich says he has accepted the decision and he is now focused on helping the club into Europe again next term. Misimovic told Kicker magazine: "Of course, I accept this 'no'.

Fantastic club

"I think everybody knows that Schalke is a fantastic club, but I also know that I have a contract with Wolfsburg. "I have a contract until 2013 and am committed to Wolfsburg. "Everything is still possible - even sixth place would be fine." Sixth place should be enough to qualify for Europe as Werder Bremen - who will qualify for the Europa League next season by virtue of reaching the DFB-Pokal final - are likely to finish in the top five. Wolfsburg are currently two points behind sixth-placed Hamburg with four games of the season remaining.
