Ivory Coast international defender Constant Djakpa is a major doubt for this summer's World Cup finals due to a knee injury.
The 23-year-old Hannover stopper injured his right knee in training and has already undergone surgery to repair the problem.
Djakpa is currently on loan from Bayer Leverkusen and is now likely to miss the remainder of the Bundesliga season.
Hannover coach Mirko Slomka is already writing off Djakpa's chances of featuring for them before this summer's finals.
"Only with the ideal healing process would Constant play for us again this season," explained Slomka. "The chances are minimal."
