Schalke manager Felix Magath has allowed Rafinha to remain on holiday in Brazil longer than originally planned.
The highly-rated right-back was booed by his own supporters during the recent 1-0 loss to Freiburg after being linked with a move away from Schalke.
Bayern Munich had been tipped to bring in the 24-year-old but a transfer failed to materialise.
Magath has blamed Rafinha's agent for the confusion but insists the situation has now been 'corrected'.
The experienced tactician admits Rafinha was 'totally depressed' after the Freiburg defeat and as such he will not require the player to return to Germany for Sunday's Bundesliga match in Cologne.
"I have allowed Rafinha to remain longer in his homeland to take care of his affairs," said Magath.
Magath added that Rafinha was expected to bring his family to Germany, saying: "I believe him when he says he wants to make a new start."
