Bayern Munich player Franck Ribery says he is ready fill the playmaker role, as requested by Louis van Gaal.

Bayern midfielder trusts experience of coach

Franck Ribery says he is prepared to step into the playmaker role that has been earmarked for him by new Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal. The France international is a natural winger but van Gaal would prefer to see him in the centre, sitting just behind the strikers. Bastian Schweinsteiger, young prospect Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose have all failed to adapt to the role during Bayern's poor start to the Bundesliga season. With no funds likely to be available for a replacement, Ribery has stated that he will try his best to excel in the influential support role. "I will try out the number 10 position and see how it goes. I will trust the view of our experienced coach, who sees me playing there." he told German magazine Sport Bild. Ribery has had his start to the new campaign blighted by injury but is hoping to start when Bayern face reigning champions Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. Van Gaal will be keen to grab his first league win at the weekend and put a stop to the club's worst start to a season in over 40 years.
