Hoffenheim midfielder Carlos Eduardo has opted to prolong his stay at the club by signing a new deal.
The Brazilian has penned a one-year extension to his current contract with the Bundesliga outfit.
The 22-year-old will now remain with Hoffenheim until at least the summer of 2013.
Eduardo had been courted by several clubs looking to bolster their numbers during the transfer window, including Wolfsburg and Zenit St Petersburg.
However, he has decided to remain loyal to the side that brought him to Europe from Gremio in 2007.
"We are delighted. The contract extension of Carlos Eduardo is a strong indication that he likes being at our club and we are looking forward to working together during the coming years," Hoffenheim general manager Jan Schindermeiser told the club's official website.
Meanwhile, Per Nilsson has been confirmed as the club's new captain for the 2009/10 campaign following the sale of Selim Teber to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The club held a vote among the first-team squad in order to determine who should be handed the armband, and Swedish defender Nilsson came out on top.
