German champions move for Brazilian striker

Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg have made an offer for Internacional striker Nilmar. The German giants are keen to strengthen their attacking options despite already having the free-scoring Edin Dzeko and Grafite on their books. They have identified Brazil international Nilmar as their top target and have made an initial approach. While keen to land the 25-year-old frontman, Wolfsburg director Jurgen Marbach has made it clear that the club do have other options and are not prepared to pay over the odds for the former Lyon forward. "We have made a clear statement regarding the money we are willing to pay as a transfer fee," Marbach told Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung. "If that is not enough for the other club then you have to accept that. It's not the case that we are only considering this player though." He added: "I will not comment on figures, but we have made an offer. It's a fair one in terms of transfer fee and basic wages. "We are not going to up that bid any more." Manager Armin Veh said: "Nilmar is a good player, but he is not the only player on our shortlist."
