Bundesliga outfit close on Portugal international

Cologne are set to sign Maniche after agreeing personal terms with the Portugal international midfielder. The 31-year-old former Inter Milan and Chelsea man is available on a free transfer after being released by Atletico Madrid last season. Maniche has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga outfit, meaning only a successful medical stands between him and finalising his transfer. The Portuguese midfielder will link up with former Benfica team-mate Petit and will become the club's second signing this summer following the return of Lukas Podolski from Bayern Munich. "We have reached an agreement with the player and will be signing Maniche, if the medical is successful," general manager Michael Meier told kicker-Sportmagazin.
